Experienced CNC Machine Operator – Waida/F50/Walter – 2nd Shift
CNC Machine Operator to produce premium quality, high prevision carbide cutting tools using tool grinding machines and programs. Will ensure proper set up machines, programming, tooling and parts are machined in accordance with manufacturing standards and specifications.
Operation Responsibilities:
Sets up and operates CNC grinding machines with precision to grind parts to blueprint specifications and technical drawings.
Monitor the machining operation, including finish, roundness, and concentricity to ensure tight tolerances and proper results.
Grind external or internal cylindrical tapered surfaces.
Load/unload machines; set up fixtures and make programs, tool and work offset adjustments as needed.
Understanding:
Determine product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be ground.
Read and follow process sheets and drawing to perform machining operations.
Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T specifications, and work instructions to ensure accurate machining process and determine tolerances for finish work pieces.
Set Up:
Set-up grind machines to run specific jobs.
Working in tight tolerance environment (+/- .00005)
Ensure parts are within the defined specifications to meet quality standards.
Will have to select, dress, and mount grinding wheel according to specification using hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures.
Use dressing appropriate techniques and dress tools/devices.
Determine grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels to be used.
Dressing the grind wheel to assure proper grinding of parts.
Quality/Verification:
Inspecting dimensions and tolerances using measuring devices, ensuring that surfaces and measurements meet specifications.
Perform precision quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances.
Additional Requirements:
Willingness and capacity to learn more skills, including but not limited to CNC operation.
Fills out production paperwork and inspection procedures as required.
Reports any problems or discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
Maintains tools, gages and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
Detailed quality assurance review of work on a continuous basis taking full ownership of the part operation assigned.
Review operational processes and makes suggestions for process improvement in production, quality and performance.
Troubleshoot grinding issues and collaborate with quality and engineering teams.
Communication with coworkers, management and others in a courteous and professional manner.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a CNC Machine Operator using GM Code
Knowledge of machine shop practices, techniques, operations
Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions
Basic math, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills
Ability to life 25 pounds
